The incumbant is what we now refer to as the vicar. This page is still being researched.

Nicholaus de Thybertone [Tibberton] (in 1318)

Nicholaus was ordained at Newent in March 1279 by Thomas de Cantilupe, Bishop of Hereford [1]. It isn't known at present when he was presented to the vicarge of Longhope.

Geoffrey Marshall (1340-)

Geoffrey was presented to the vicarage of Longhope on 1st October 1340 [4]. He was ordained as an acolyte on 3rd March 1329 by Thomas Charlton, Bishop of Hereford, at Churcham [4]. The patron was Monmouth Priory. Some sources available on the Internet suggest this is the year of the first traceable incumbent.

John Sabyn (1391-1419)

John Sabyn was ordained as an acolyte at Ledbury on 7th March 1349 by John de Trillek, Bishop of Hereford and presented to the vicarage of Longhope on 9th November 1391 [5]. He resigned in 1419 and was given a pension of five marks and permission to use the main part of the hall belonging to the vicarage [9].

John Bodenham (1419-1463)

Following the resignation of John Sabyn, John Bodenham was the next to become the vicar of Longhope on 3rd April 1419. The patron by this time was the prior and convent of Monmouth [9].

John Bridde/Bryde/Prydde (1463-1522)

John Bridde was presented to the vicarage of Longhope on 15th August 1463 following the death of John Bodenham [16].

Robert Jones M.A. (1522-1541)

The death of John Bridde in 1522 meant a new vicar had to be found. Robert was appointed to Longhope Vicarage on 24th October 1522 [21].

William Trigge (1541-, in 1551)

William was presented to the Longhope vicarage on 7th April 1541 by John Skypp following the resignation of Robert [24]. The patron was Raphael Raulyns of Gloucester [24].

Henry Deyce (1561-1577)

The patron was Richard Turner.

James Mutloe (1577- )

The patron was John Baker.

Thomas Rudge (in 1606)

The patron was John Baker.

John Adamson (1618-1663)

The patron was John Cadle.

George Dutton (1663-1700)

The patron was the Bishop of Gloucester.

Charles Hoskins (1700-1703)

The patron was Nourse Yate.

George Venn M.A. (1703-1717)

The patron was Joseph Venn.

Thomas Mantle B.A. (1717-1742)

The patrons were Francis Yate, Walter Yate and W. Hodges.

Yate Bromich M.A. (1742-1774)

The patrons were Mary Yate, Lancelot Bromwich, Priscilla Bromwich (wife of Lancelot), Henrietta Yate, Arthusa Yate and Francis Yate. The Yate sisters were all spinsters and are four of the five daughters of Nourse Yate, a former patron of the church under Charles Hoskins.

David Jones (1774-1786)

The patrons were William Matthews and Priscilla Bromich.

William Probyn (1786- )

The patron was Edmund Probyn.

Robert Raikes B.A. (1838-1851)

Vernon Guise M.A. (1851-1861)

Vernon Guise is buried in the graveyard of All Saints' Church in grave 190G.

Frederick Guise M.A. (1861-1897)

Maurice Maltby (1917-1924)

Maurice Maltby is buried in the graveyard of All Saints' churchyard in grave 177G.

Edward Marsden (1925-1935)

Murray Penfold (1959-1982)

Murray Penfold is buried in the graveyard of All Saints' Church in grave 485G.
