More Snow for the Village
The rest of Britain, especially London and the South-East, came to a standstill in what has been said to be the coldest winter since the winter of 1981/2. Heavy snow had affected these areas the most, although perhaps it is their inability to cope with what is generally regarded as winter! The severe weather conditions had been forecast for many days beforehand. Longhope only had a few inches of snow, but many of the major schools in the Forest of Dean closed today, giving pupils an extra day off. Evidence of this in that wherever you walked in the village, you could hear the laughter of children out sledging in the fields - you couldn't necessarily see where they were, but you could certainly hear them!
