Late Autumn

These photographs were taken on the 22nd November, 2001. The autumn colours are exaggerated by the low angle of the setting sun in the west, and the backdrop of a stormy sky in the east. A warm October and plenty of rain throughout the year have contributed to a very late autumn this year. We have had no frosts until quite recently, which has meant that the leaves have only just changed into their beautiful colours. But we have had no strong winds to blow them off the trees, so we are fortunate to be able to enjoy an extended autumn - the longest and latest in living memory. Enjoy it while it lasts!
