Longhope, at last, seems to be going to see the very long-awaited arrival of its new school, or at least that's what it looked like on 19th March, 2002. Pupils, staff, governors and parents from Hope Brook C of E Primary School, along with district and parish councillors, villagers, contractors, planners, press and representatives from the Gloucestershire education department all turned out to witness the "Official Turf-Cutting Ceremony" to mark the start of the project.
There was much excitement in the air, especially from those villagers who had waited nearly 30 years for the day!
Three pupils from Hope Brook School along with Liz Boait and Joy Henbest put their backs into removing the first sod. Lend them a JCB someone!
