Forest Seniors Network Website Needs Help

The committee wants to develop a more interactive website but is still looking for someone with some website management expertise to help either on a voluntary basis or, if preferred, for a set up fee plus a monthly retainer for regular updates to be mutually agreed. Looking for Local Diamonds

GRCC would like to hear from you if you know an older person or group whom you think deserves to be recognised for an award in this special Diamond Jubilee and Olympic year. Nomination forms have been circulated for several weeks and the deadline is 3rd September. Please submit your nominations by 3rd September 2012 to: GRCC, Community House, 15 College Green, Gloucester, GL1 2LZ or email kated@grcc.org.uk

The award ceremony for nominees and invited guests will take place in the evening of Thursday 13th September 2012 at Bishops Cleeve Tithe Barn following the GRCC AGM.

Solid Wall Insulation

Warm & Well are offering support specifically for vulnerable older adults to access funding for solid wall insulation. Some homes that have solid walls cannot be insulated with conventional cavity wall insulation as has been available through the Warm & Well programme in recent years. However the Warm & Well programme is now able to offer funding towards these measures. For those on the lowest incomes funding may completely cover the cost of installation but everyone is entitled to some funding. Can't Wait Toilet Card

The Bladder and Bowel Foundation's toilet card clearly states that the holder has a medical condition and needs to use a toilet quickly. Although it does not guarantee you access to a toilet, most places you visit will be willing to help you. The card is a small, credit-sized card, designed to fit easily into purse, wallet or pocket. As a national charity reliant on donations to fund their work, it is requested that a donation of £5.00 is made towards the cost of sending out a card. This £pound;5 donation covers the cost of producing the card, associated administration work and postage. Chinese Millions Scam

If you get a letter, allegedly from China, about a distant relative who has died and left millions to you, bin the letter. The police already know about this scam.

Rogue Traders

Traders canvassing door to door offering guttering cleaning, guttering replacements, roof cleaning and waterproofing treatments are of interest to Trading Standards and they welcome any timely information about canvassing activities in the County. In one case reported to them the trader is believed to have charged significantly more than the agreed price. Arthritis Medication Scam

Some people have been contacted by an unknown person offering medication to help with arthritis. This man states that he has been given information by your surgery about your medical records. Surgeries do not give out information about you without your consent. Do not communicate with this person. Report the incident to the police.
