A40 Roadworks To Cause Longhope Chaos

The Highways Agency have announced the closure of the A40 at Boxbush for nine days, commencing this Saturday (24/10/09) to carry out drainage work to prevent flooding. They will also be replacing a damaged crash barrier between Huntley and Glasshouse at the same time. We understand that most of the traffic will be diverted along Church Road, with the lorries supposedly going via the M50 and A417, as there is a weight restriction through the village, but we shall see!

The road closure conveniently coincides with the school half term holidays, when, presumably, the folk at the Highways Agency thought it would be a good move without school buses having to be diverted miles off course - which it will - but what about all the kids playing on their bikes in Church Road? We shall see!
