Council Reject New Homes Plan

Council planners have rejected an application by The Diocesan Board of Finance to build 25 new homes on land it owns close to the now demolished Squirrel Lodge, in School Lane. This follows 25 letters objecting to the plans by Longhope residents saying that the village roads would not be able to cope, and the sewerage system would struggle. Angry residents, who had previously displayed protest posters near the site, attended a meeting to tell the councillors that they didn't understand the Diocesan's decision to sell off the land, when the churchyard was already nearing full capacity.
