New Homes Planned for Squirrel Lodge Site

The Gloucester Diocesan Board of Finance have applied for planning permission to build 25 new houses after demolishing Squirrel Lodge and associated toilet block, at the bottom of School Lane. Squirrel Lodge has long been used by the village originally as the Scout and Guide Hut, before Pippins Pre-School Nursery moved in. The plans put before the Forest of Dean District Council are to include a public open space, and the decision should be made by 24th September. The fate of the derelict Longhope Church of England School has still to be decided however, but it has been made clear that the sale will not financially benefit the village or All Saints' Church Restoration Appeal.
