Original site The Longhope Village Website has been in existence since its creation on the 26th March 2000. At the time of construction, Longhope had no presence on the Internet so the aim was to build a site dedicated to the village of Longhope. To this day it still remains the only site dedicated to our village. The original five page website (with its horrible colour scheme) incorporated a few bits of history, a map and a bit about Longhope football club. The original home page can be seen in the picture on the right.

The second incarnation of the site was created a few months later, in June, with the introduction of the Snapshots, Then and Now and News sections. The navigation had been improved with the inclusion of bigger, brighter buttons.

February 2001 saw the next biggest update when some of the pages were rewritten to have a dark blue/yellow feel. This update saw an updated Sport section as well as a bit more history (which was still green and blue at the time).

By December 2002 the website had grown to about 50 pages and over 40 pictures. Several pages had been tweaked and a "pretend" message board was created but was very soon taken away again.

2003 was the year some of the pages were given the familiar pastel blue and yellow scheme that greets you now. The emphasis was on "some" of the pages as others still kept their bright, contrasting colours. It was also the year that we saw dwindling numbers of news items, partly because the volunteers that operate this site had other commitments to attend to as well.

Finally, in 2004 the pastel blue and yellow was given to all the pages for a more consistent feel. The page count had grown to well over 150. October saw the introduction of the Family History section aimed specifically at those wanting to research their ancestors from Longhope and is still being researched to this day.

In April 2005, the website had grown so big that we needed to move to a new location with more space (a long way from the original five pages). There were a few minor hiccups but all of it was moved successfully you will be pleased to hear. It was also the year that the dedicated News section, a loyal companion for many years, was removed and replaced a few months later with a message board system. Some remnants of the news pages include the fête pictures located in the Village Life section.

Champagne Since the launch of the Longhope Village Website way back in March 2000 we are pleased to announce that we hit the 10,000th visitor mark on Monday 19th September 2005. Roll on 20,000...

In October 2005, some members of the community and the Longhope Village Website took part in the recording of a documentary about Longhope for BBC Radio Gloucestershire (104.7 FM and 1413 AM, 95 FM in Stroud and 95.8 FM in Cirencester) discussing the past and present of the village. The photograph shows Ian, Angela, Pete Wilson (from BBC Radio Gloucestershire) and Dave.

Following a (large) number of developments in the village in 2007, the news section was reopened so that these events could be reported. This meant that the old news items could be dusted off and placed back on the website for all to see, including the forgotten Golden Jubilee Celebrations of 2002.
