All Saints' Feast

As you may be aware on Saturday 24th October we held the All Saints' Feast, a celebration of the All Saints' All Sorts Cookbook and a fundraiser for the new church roof. It was a fantastic, if exhausting, night and Vicky would like to thank everyone who made it possible.

The Co-op gave Mrs. Whitehouse £250 of vouchers towards the meal. The Old Dairy Tearooms provided the soup free of charge.

Raffle Ticket Prizes

Mr. Walwin for his Wood Sculpture,
Mr. Ball for the Heart of Hope silver necklace,
The Old Dairy Tearoom for a traditional afternoon tea for two,
Mr. Pett for the signed print of "Three's a Crowd",
Fairview Gardens for the £20 gift voucher,
Mrs. Whitehouse for the Fortnum and Mason hamper,
Mr. Fenton for the hand-turned Hope Brook yew bowl.

Vicky would like to thank all of her helpers, particularly Tessa who coped admirably with her panics. All the ladies who cooked the meals, served the meals and washed-up (ably assisted by guests!). To Mr. Meadows for advising on what needed doing and manning the bar. He did win the squirrel wood sculpture though so it was worth bothering him! The evening would not have been possible without them.

To all the people who bought and sold raffle tickets and, of course, to all of you who came to support the event. In total, the grand sum of £1465 was raised towards the Church Roof Appeal (that's a lot of roof tiles).

Finally, a thank-you to Mr. Thorp without whom neither cookbook would have been possible. The Longhope Cookbook (which bought the cooker in the Latchen Rooms) still sells well and the All Saints' All Sorts Cookbook is proving a success as well.

Vicky would like to point out that if she has forgotten anybody it was due to a senior moment!
