What's On in August

A “Picnic in the Park” will take place on Saturday 16th August at the Recreation Ground to commemorate the centenary of the start of World War 1, organised by the Longhope and District Branch of The Royal British Legion. There will be entertainment and appearances from St. Andrew’s Pipe Band from Cheltenham and the Forest of Dean Brass Band. Tickets will be £5 and profits will go to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. The gates open at 4.00pm and you can get tickets from the Ticket hotline on: 01452 830393.

Also, every Friday in August will see a “Pop-up Cafe” held at The Pavilion (at The Rec). The aim is to raise money to cover the cost of hiring and use of the pavilion over the summer holidays. Between 10.00am and 2.00pm there will be tea, coffee, cakes, cream teas, light lunches and children’s lunches available. The only thing the organisers say is that these will be limited, so suggest pre-ordering at The Post Office to avoid disappointment please.
